Born in 1961 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Hanomansing moved to Canada with his family at the age of 3. Growing up in Sackville, New Brunswick, Hanomansing developed a love for journalism and storytelling that would ultimately lead him to become one of the most respected and accomplished broadcasters in the country.
After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Hanomansing began his career at CBC as a reporter and anchor, working in various locations across Canada. In 2007, he became the host of CBC News: Vancouver, a position he held for over a decade. In 2018, Hanomansing made history as the first person of South Asian descent to anchor a national newscast in Canada when he joined The National as a co-host.
